At the Plenary Hall, JCC, from 16:30 to 17:30
ACC2015, JCC, 23rd April 2015 – The seven plenary sessions of the commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of the Asian African Conference were officially brought to a close by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Joko Widodo, who gave his closing speech as host of the summit in the Jakarta Convention Centre Plenary Hall at 16:45 on the 23rd April 2015.
Prior to the closing ceremony, President Joko Widodo Co-Chaired the seventh and final plenary session alongside the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, H.E. Robert Gabriel Mugabe, with whom he also Co-Chaired the first plenary session on 22nd April 2015.
In his closing speech, President Joko Widodo announced the outcome documents of the Summit, namely the Bandung Message, the reinvigoration of the New Asian African Strategic Partnership Document and the declaration on the Asian and African countries’ support for the Independence of Palestine. These documents were officially adopted by all present Heads of State, Governments and Delegations at 17:17, 23rd April 2015, after which President Joko Widodo moved to Cendrawasih Room 1 to give a statement to the press.
The announcement concluded the second day of the Summit and the final day of activities in Jakarta. Tomorrow, 24th April 2015, 22 Country Leaders will travel to Bandung where they will commemorate the first Asian African Conference in 1955 by reenacting the Bandung Walks from the Savoy Homann Hotel to Gedung Merdeka.
